Last updated: J(Updated as there are changes to report) David existentially felt God’s goodness and love ( chesed). He prepares a table (a most natural result of living in a shame and honor culture that cared deeply about hospitality) and shows the common courtesies of anointing the guest’s head with oil (though David may have been thinking of Samuel anointing him as king) and making sure his cup is always full (another common ancient Near East custom). The shepherd of the psalm also is a host. The rod and staff are the shepherd’s tools to guide the sheep in those paths. This shepherd led his sheep out of scary places. The darkest valley (i.e., valley of death) was a frightening valley west of Jerusalem. Taking the right paths to the next feeding ground mattered in Israel. This shepherd ensured his sheep could safely drink and not be washed away in strong currents. Rushing waters from vicious rivers or flooded wadis could endanger the sheep. When the shepherd found such a pasture, he ensured that his sheep would enjoy the rest and nourishment they needed. Green pastures are hard to come by in Israel. Interpreting the imagery of those verbs demonstrated how the shepherd nourishes, restores, leads, honors, protects, and inspires confidence. The verbs ( makes, leads, refreshes, guides, prepares, and anoints, along with the implied verb, protects) underline the thoroughness of the shepherd to provide. The shepherd made sure his sheep lacked nothing. Finally, the psalm underlines David’s confidence about gaining victory over his enemies and experiencing enjoyment in the presence of God. Second, the psalm is used in all circumstances (including funerals). First, it pictures God as a shepherd (an image familiar to King David). At least three things make this psalm so familiar and popular. That is what this most famous of all psalms celebrates. And beyond that, we have a good God who acts as a shepherd and a gracious host. Thanksgiving week is a good time to affirm that many of us lack nothing. But King David also challenged Israel to be like Joshua-without naming him-and he did so in two very familiar Psalms (23 and 27).Ī Heart That Is Strong and Courageous Lacks Nothing As he took the baton of leadership from Moses, God reminded him more than once to be strong and courageous in leading Israel (Joshua 1:6, 7, 9, and 18). When we think about being strong and courageous, our minds of course drift to Joshua, the faithful spy and successor of Moses. Send an email to to receive PDFs of the lesson material each month. Some implementations have substantial face-to-face support, whereas others have minimal support. The teacher of record or other adults provide face-to-face support on a flexible and adaptive as-needed basis through activities such as small-group instruction, group projects, and individual tutoring. The Station Rotation model differs from the Individual Rotation model because students rotate through all of the stations, not only those on their custom schedules.ī. The Rotation model includes four sub-models: Station Rotation, Lab Rotation, Flipped Classroom, and Individual Rotation.ġ. The majority of blended-learning programs resemble one of four models: Rotation, Flex, A La Carte, and Enriched Virtual.
This entry was posted in modblog and tagged eyeball-tattooing, risks by Shannon Larratt. You can see one possible result - I believe on the extreme end - in this photo by Matti Keski-Kohtamäki. It is likely that this risk can be greatly reduced by minimizing the amount of ink used, and by cleaning any residual ink of the eye - but I can’t promise that. It’s important for people to understand that even though eyeball tattooing is now five years old, it is not completely understood. He also wore makeup over it for the first year, but has learned to enjoy it. He’s tried lightening the black patch by tattooing over it with skin tone tattoo ink, with some positive results but not completely covering it. He also adds that the discoloration is not close to the surface as with a normal tattoo - it’s much deeper, as if the subcutaneous tissue is black. He figures that while he was dreaming that night, that the combination of the eye’s natural movement and normal self-cleaning mechanisms could have moved the ink down under the lower lid at which point it penetrated the tissue rather than being excreted. His theory on why he got so much discoloration under the eye was that there was some ink on top of the left eyeball after the operation that they couldn’t remove. Most people with this that I’ve seen have just some small lines of discoloration, but the results can be quite extreme, as you see here on the left eye of Mechanical Demon (tattoo artist at Harness in Helsinki, Finland). lunacobra on Instagram Black eyeball tattoo Cincinnati this week then NYC Denver Texas San Diego and Europe as soon as its open again Get in touch for any. We have no idea how to definitively mitigate it. Is the ink somehow pulling into the tear or lymphomatic ducts? Being pulled into the tissue through some sort of capillary action? Is it happening because of over-injection? Is it happening because of too much ink being sprayed over the eye that’s not being injected? We’re just not sure yet - and that’s what’s so troubling about this risk. No one has been able to come up with a satisfactory explanation. I studied the eye and spoke with a few doctors and surgeons, and then started to do this. A schoolteacher whose body, face and tongue are covered in tattoos and who has had the whites of his eyes surgically turned black said he was. I wish I could tell you exactly why this happens. It was Luna Cobra, a US tattoo artist, who first experimented with injecting ink into the eyeball. Helaine says he loves being a primary school teacher. Specialists might not be able to do much to repair a person’s damaged eye tissue. Castle, an optometrist in Park City, Utah, the damage left from eye tattoos is particularly difficult to treat. Speaking of doctors, according to Stephanie A. Armed Robbery Two people were arrested in. Tattoo artists create scleral tattoos by injecting ink below the conjunctiva and onto the surface of the sclera. That’s the layer that gets irritated and bloodshot when someone has pink eye or bad eye allergies. It doesn’t take being a doctor to know that repeatedly sticking a needle into your eye and filling it with ink is unequivocally a bad idea. The woman, Morgan Joyce Varn, has bleached blond hair tattoos on her neck and forehead and around her lips as lipliner and jet-black eyeballs. How are eyeball tattoos even possible The white sclera is covered by a paper-thin membrane called the conjunctiva. Like all tattoos, eyeball tattoos have risks. For example, some people tattoo the whites of their eyes black or red. No matter what technique the tattoo artists uses, the procedure involves piercing a person’s eyeball and injecting the puncture with ink, basically inviting in bacterial infection. Facebook offers unlimited photo storage, but limits albums to 1,000 photos and defaults to lower resolution photos unless you tell it otherwise. In Google’s case, users can upload an unlimited number of standard size photos, but full-size photos will count against their Google Drive storage quotas. But only paying subscribers will be able to access the unlimited storage option – Amazon will not make that same tier available to non-Prime members, even for a fee.Īmazon is not the first technology company to offer a massive photo storage plan for their customers – Google, Facebook, Yahoo’s Flickr and Apple do the same, but there tend to be restrictions. The Cloud Drive service, which is built on Amazon Web Services, also lets customers store music, videos, and documents. Non-Prime and Prime subscribers will continue to receive 5 GB of free storage on Amazon Cloud Drive which is the equivalent to up to 2,000 photos, the company tells TechCrunch. In addition to Prime Photos, members have access to free two-day shipping on over 20 million items, tens of thousands of streaming titles on Prime Instant Video, 1 million songs and hundreds of playlists on Prime Music, over 600,000 books to borrow in the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, and early access to select Lightning Deals. Though Amazon’s earnings were gloomy with a larger-than-expected loss and a huge write-off for the Fire Phone, Prime membership seemed to be one bright spot.Īmazon CFO Tom Szkutak said the service had seen “great retention” since the price increase, and said “the program is growing very fast.” Amazon doesn’t reveal its membership numbers beyond saying “tens of millions,” but some analysts have estimated Prime subscribers at 50 million. No Price Increase For PrimeĪmazon says the additional benefit won’t impact the cost of Amazon Prime membership, which is now at $99, renewed annually – a price increase announced earlier this year which some speculated would cause members to drop the service. On Fire phones and tablets, customers won’t need to download an app – they can access their Cloud Drive images from the Photos section on their devices. In fact, it was one of the original selling points for Amazon’s entry into the smartphone market. Of course, for the handful of Amazon customers who ordered the Fire phone, the Amazon Cloud Drive-powered photo storage option is already built-in. The app, which was previously available but with limits on free storage for photos before pricing kicked in, lets users view photos in a timeline format, auto-save photos as they’re taken, and share their photos through Facebook, email, and other apps. In the meantime, Mac desktop users can sign in from the web browser or use the mobile application of their choice). (The Mac version is in the works, the website tells visitors. To get started with Prime Photos, Amazon Prime subscribers can now visit the homepage for the new service (at in order to download the Cloud Drive Photos iOS or Android application, if they didn’t already have it installed, or get the Cloud Drive Windows upload app. These photos can then be viewed on those devices, as well as on the big screen via Amazon Fire TV, the new Fire TV Stick, game consoles like the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, and some models of LG and Samsung smart TVs. In a new service called Prime Photos, paying subscribers of Amazon’s membership program will now be about to store photos in their original resolutions to Amazon Cloud Drive from any device, including iOS, Android, and Fire phones and tablets, as well as Mac and Windows PCs.
